Archiving & Preservation

JMRC is committed to the permanent availability of everything it publishes. This page explains how published content is preserved and how authors may archive their own work.

Preservation of published content

  • Publishing platform: JMRC is published with Open Journal Systems (OJS), and the journal's database and files are backed up regularly.
  • PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): once the journal has been assigned an ISSN, all published content will be deposited in the PKP Preservation Network, a distributed preservation service based on LOCKSS technology that keeps copies in several independent locations and makes them available if the journal ever ceases publication.
  • Persistent identifiers: DOIs will be registered for all articles through Crossref, so that citations continue to resolve even if the journal's web address changes.
  • Open formats: articles are published as PDF files, and their metadata is available in open, standard formats through OAI-PMH.

If the journal ceases publication

If JMRC ever stopped publishing, all published articles would remain freely accessible through the preservation services described above, and the journal would make every effort to keep its website online or to transfer its archive to a suitable organisation.

Self-archiving by authors

Authors may deposit any version of their article (the submitted manuscript, the accepted manuscript or the published version) in institutional or subject repositories, or on personal and funders' websites, at any time and with no embargo. We recommend depositing the published PDF with a link to the article page and its DOI.

The current status of these preservation arrangements is shown under Indexing & Abstracting and is updated whenever it changes.
