Journal of Materials Research Communications (JMRC) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to the rapid and rigorous communication of research across materials science and engineering.

Mission

JMRC provides a trusted, fully open venue where researchers can share advances in the understanding, design, processing and application of materials with a global audience. The journal combines careful double-anonymous peer review with an efficient editorial process, so that sound research reaches readers quickly and remains freely available to everyone.

Scope

The journal covers the full materials spectrum: metals and alloys; ceramics and glasses; polymers and soft matter; composites and hybrid materials; nanomaterials and thin films; energy and environmental materials; electronic, magnetic and optical materials; biomaterials; surface engineering, corrosion and tribology; advanced manufacturing and processing; characterisation and testing; and computational and data-driven materials science. Article types

• Research Articles: complete, original studies that make a significant contribution to the field.
• Review Articles: critical and comprehensive assessments of the state of the art in an active research area.
• Short Communications: concise reports of important new findings that merit rapid publication.
• Editorials: commentary from the editors on the journal and its field, published by invitation.

Publication model

JMRC is a fully open access journal. All articles are free to read, download and reuse immediately on publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), and authors retain the copyright of their work. Publication is funded by an article processing charge (APC), which is payable only after a manuscript has been accepted; there is no submission fee. See Article Processing Charges.

Peer review

All research content is subject to double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent experts, overseen by the handling editor. The process is described in full under Peer Review Process.

Publishing schedule

JMRC publishes four issues a year, in March, June, September and December. Accepted articles are published online as soon as they are ready and are then added to the current issue (continuous publication).

Ownership, management and editorial independence

JMRC is published by Publisher Name, City, Country and managed by its editorial office under the direction of the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board, who have sole responsibility for all editorial decisions. The publisher is responsible for the operation, hosting and long-term preservation of the journal and has no influence on editorial decisions.

Revenue sources, advertising and direct marketing

JMRC is funded by the article processing charges (APCs) paid for accepted articles, and payment has no influence on editorial decisions. The journal does not accept advertising or sponsorship that could influence editorial decisions. Any direct marketing by the journal, such as calls for papers, is appropriately targeted, accurate and never misleading about the journal's indexing, metrics or peer review.
