  2. Editorial screening

    Checks for scope, completeness and originality, usually within 7 days.

  3. Peer review

    Double-anonymous review by at least two experts; target first decision in 4–6 weeks.

  4. Revision & decision

    Authors respond to the reviewers; the handling editor makes the final decision.

  5. Production

    Copyediting, typesetting and approval of the author proofs.

  6. Publication

    Published online, open access, and added to the current issue.
